Rani Haywood

Senior Vice President

Rani Haywood hails from Sydney, Australia, and has worked primarily in Sydney and New York City. For over fifteen years Rani has held senior marketing roles at an array of performing arts and cultural organizations in Australia and the United States, including her most recent role as Senior Director, Sales and Marketing, at The Metropolitan Opera. She previously held marketing leadership roles at Roundabout Theatre Company in New York, Sydney Theatre Company, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Belvoir and the Australia Council for the Arts, and worked in marketing roles at Sydney Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Rani has acted in a consulting capacity throughout her career, working with an eclectic client base on a variety of projects. Highlights have included working with Australia’s largest literary festival, Sydney Writers’ Festival; on the launch of the new Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale for the Australia Council for the Arts; and with Australia’s key organization working for cultural diversity in the arts. She joined Tom O’Connor Consulting Group in March 2020, where she consults across time zones to clients in both the US and Australia.

In Australia, Rani previously served as a director on the boards of De Quincey Co, a dance-theatre performance company, and Brand X, who provide subsidized workspace for artists. She recently joined the board of Sydney-based dance theatre company, Force Majeure. Rani has been a guest instructor at the National Academy of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Columbia University, Brooklyn College, and Yale School of Drama, and regularly presents at industry events.

  • What was the first concert you attended? First concert I independently attended (by choice) was Prince.

  • What was your first paying job? Christmas gift wrapping at the local shopping centre (aka the mall)

  • What is your favorite Non-Fiction book? Anything by Ta-Nehisi Coates

  • What's your top recommendation for anyone visiting Australia for the first time? Make sure you visit the desert as well as the beaches.
